PERSPECTIVES ON PLACE
SATURDAY 7th & SUNDAY 8th NOVEMBER 2026
at Crescent House, Skipton
open 11am - 4pm, free entry
Perspectives on Place brings together work by three artists exploring different ways of observing, experiencing and responding to place through creative practice. Across different landscapes, locations and ways of working, the exhibition considers how we encounter our surroundings — through movement, material, observation and making — and how these experiences can be recorded, interpreted and transformed.

COLLABORATE!
CRAVEN COLLEGE ART STUDENTS
a mash up of photography, collage and autographic drawing by the graphic design students of the Level 3 Extended Diploma
COLLABORATE! is a creative project with students from Craven College, exploring Skipton through photography, drawing and graphic processes.
Starting with the local environment, they’ll explore shape, scale and composition, transforming what they find through photography, print, photocopying, collage and drawing. The exhibition brings their individual work together into a shared installation, showing how familiar places can be looked at, taken apart and reimagined in new ways.

FOLDED ECOLOGIES
MATTHEW MAGNUS
prints, photography and laser-cut pieces working through process, play and experimentation
Folded Ecologies is an ongoing enquiry into landscape and materials, exploring what can be discovered through the process of making. Rather than working towards a fixed outcome, Matthew responds to the materials as the work develops, allowing each decision and discovery to influence what happens next. The finished pieces reveal traces of this process and often take the work in directions that could not have been anticipated at the outset.

AM I STILL A TOURIST?
ZÖE LOUISE PLATT
drawings, prints, collage, photography and artist’s books developed during a two-week residency in Valencia
Am I Still a Tourist? is an artist book developed during a two-week artist residency in Valencia. Using drawing, photography, frottage and collected visual material, Zöe recorded fragments of the city as she moved through it — its surfaces, shapes, textures and incidental details. These observations were gradually taken apart, layered and reconfigured through print and collage, culminating in an artist’s book that acts as a visual record of the residency and the experience of looking closely at an unfamiliar place.
Part of the Perspectives on Place exhibition, Zöe will be showing the final book and some of the process work behind the outcome.
