WORKSHOPS & STUDIO INFO

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A SHORT & FEW WORKSHOP

Helping you to plan and prepare for the event.

WORKSHOP STRUCTURE

Workshops are structured and practical. Each session begins with an introduction to materials and their safe use. I demonstrate each stage step-by-step, and you follow along to make your book. There is time to ask questions and repeat steps if needed. All workshops are designed so that you work towards a finished outcome by the end of the session. You can take breaks or step out at any time.

LEVEL & APPROACH
Most workshops are suitable for beginners or improvers. No prior experience is needed unless stated. The focus is on learning through doing. You don’t need to be “good at art”, just willing to try the process.

PACE & SUPPORT

Workshops vary in pace. Some are more intensive, others allow more time for support and processing. Choose what suits you, or get in touch before booking.

You’ll be supported throughout, and can ask for help at any point. If you need adjustments, let me know in advance.

ENVIRONMENT

Workshops are small group sessions at shared tables. There is no expectation to talk or share. You’ll work seated and sometimes standing at a bench. Lighting is a mix of natural and overhead light. The space is generally quiet, with low background noise. Hot and cold refreshments are provided. Accessible toilets are available.

THE BUILDING

There is no step-free access. There are two small flights of stairs in the entrance.

Short & Few is currently occupying a former office unit as a meanwhile tenant. This means that I am temporarily using the space whilst the landlord seeks its next permanent use. The building is a little run down in appearance, but this does not impact the quality of the service Short & Few offers.

MATERIALS & TOOLS
All tools and core materials are provided unless otherwise stated in the description. You’ll be shown how to use equipment safely (including needles, knives, and awls where relevant).

WHAT TO BRING

You don’t need to bring anything unless specified. Most sessions focus on learning processes through making blank books. If you’d like to bring your own materials or work, get in touch beforehand to check suitability.
