BOOK ARTS FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
tailored learning-through-making programmes for cultural and educational settings
I work with galleries, museums, and local organisations to design and deliver bespoke bookmaking programmes in response to specific themes, exhibitions, or collections. These programmes use bookmaking as a way to explore ideas and voice — combining practical making with broader learning around critical thinking, problem-solving, reflection, and communication.
Workshops draw on my ten years’ experience as an art and design tutor, using book structures as a framework for learning. Activities might include mark-making, drawing for observation and analysis, sequencing and narrative, and translating ideas across materials and formats. Participants develop work through the full creative process — from research and idea generation to making, editing and reflection. The goal is for each participant to take a completed, unique book home at the end.
Programmes can vary from one-off study days, to week long or short courses, depending on your audience, objectives and budget.
