MENTORING

Short & Few facilitating a workshop at Sunny Bank Mills
Creative mentoring offers space to explore your ideas, reflect on your process, and build confidence in your own way of working.
With years of creative arts tutoring behind me, I know how to support people at all stages of their creative journey - whether you're stuck, just starting out, or unsure how to begin again. I get a real buzz from the collision of ideas, and I’m passionate about helping others move their ideas and practice forward through conversation, curiosity, and shared momentum. Mentoring is not about having all the answers, but having someone in your corner whilst you figure things out.
Mentoring is shaped around you, but here are some common things we can work through:
Clarity & Direction: Working out what you want to make and why - untangling ideas and finding the thread that pulls them all together.
Confidence Building: Letting go of the pressure to get it right and learning to trust your own way of working.
Practice Development: Exploring your creative process, finding rhythm in your making, and building something sustainable.
Critical Thinking: Asking better questions about your work—what it’s doing, what it’s saying, and what you want from it.
Reflection & Feedback: Space to talk through ideas, review your work, and notice what’s working (and what’s not).
Accountability & Structure: Building small routines, working through blocks at your own pace and staying engaged.
Emotional Support: Honest, supportive space when you feel unsure, disconnected from your practice, or need a reset.
Resources & Suggestions: Practical ideas and contextual references that help you keep going or to try something new.
