PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

Short & Few facilitating a work placement at the Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate
ARTIST EDUCATOR & PROGRAMME COORDINATOR
tailored learning programmes for cultural and educational settings
I work with galleries, museums, and educational organisations to design and deliver bespoke learning programmes in response to specific themes, exhibitions, or collections. These programmes combine practical making with broader learning goals of critical thinking, problem-solving, reflective skills, and communication.
Practical activities draw on my ten years' experience as an art and design tutor and can include mark-making for confidence, drawing in its various forms for observation and analysis, translating 2D works to 3D structures and installations, and developing ideas across different materials and processes. Programmes take learners through the full creative process—tapping into research and analysis, idea generation and development, and building skills in evaluation and reflection.

WORKSHOP FACILITATOR
accessible hands-on workshops that focus on making
I’ve developed a core menu of hands-on workshops exploring bookmaking, cyanotypes and paper-based arts, which I deliver at venues across Yorkshire and beyond. I provide all the equipment, materials, and tuition so participants can get straight to making and take home something they’ve created from start to finish in the workshop.
Workshops usually last 3 hours and can be hosted in any suitable studio or event space, running with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 participants to ensure everyone gets the support they need. Workshops from my core menu can be adapted to suit your preferences and budget.
Suitable for:

TEAM SOCIALS / WELLBEING DAYS
PRIVATE HIRE FOR GROUPS
If you’d like to host a workshop, please get in touch for details on workshop content, suggested ticket costs/fee structures, and venue requirements.

WHY CHOOSE SHORT & FEW?
EXPERIENCED, QUALIFIED & PROFESSIONAL
I’ve been running creative workshops since 2021 across venues in West Yorkshire and beyond, supported by over ten years’ experience as a qualified art and design tutor in the Lifelong Learning Sector. My facilitation experience spans children and families, community groups, adults, learners with disabilities or other barriers, and experienced artists. I have also designed and coordinated bespoke learning programmes for galleries, museums, and educational organisations.
TAILORED TO YOUR AIMS
Whether delivering from my core menu of bookmaking, cyanotypes, and collage workshops, or designing a learning programme in response to a theme, exhibition, or collection, all activities are customised to suit your audience, objectives, and budget. This includes practical making alongside opportunities for critical thinking, problem-solving, and reflection.
CONFIDENT, ENTHUSIASTIC & ENGAGING
I’m a passionate advocate for making the arts accessible to all, creating experiences that inspire, empower, and educate. I bring knowledge, fresh ideas, and encouragement, underpinned by a critically-engaged, holistic approach to teaching and facilitation.
ORGANISED, EQUIPPED & INSURED
I hold a large supply of art and design materials, meaning I supply all materials and equipment for workshops, and am able to supply most equipment for learning programmes (requiring only essentials, e.g. electricity, water, tables, and chairs). I’m well-practised in quick setups and pack-downs in a range of environments, and will always meet with you in advance to ensure everything is prepared exactly as needed and delivered as expected.
