A 5 hour workshop dedicated to making a personalised cloth bound hard cover Japanese stab stitch book.

This is an improvers workshop, and you are advised to have attended an intro/beginners session, or come with some previous experience.

OVERVIEW:

This workshop is a follow-on from my Intro to Bookmaking short course, where we will take binding a step further and explore Japanese stab stitch. This traditional binding is both simple and decorative, using stitching patterns along the spine to hold the book together. We’ll be using this workshop to learn the classic 4-hole stitch, and how to cover boards with book cloth using adhesive. You will make a personalised finished book, and a sample/test book as part of your practice.
