WELCOME TO THE CABIN

the cabin

a wooden studio tucked away at the end of my garden

I am fortunate to have been able to build a cabin at the end of my garden, a place to retreat, unwind and find my flow state. I use it for my own practice, and also run my workshops from here. It is a cosy working space that can fit 6 people, meaning workshops are kept small. All equipment and materials are provided for each workshop, and there is tiny art shop selling creative bits and bobs.

I am based a short walk from Ilkley town centre (LS29), so you can easily build a workshop in to a day out in the beautiful Victorian spa town, including a walk up to the Cow and Calf and across the Moors, or down to the riverside.

Workshops in the cabin range from 90 minutes (e.g. Zine Club), to 3 hours for longer sessions. Workshop fees include all materials, as well as hot and cold refreshments; and when the weather is good we can spill out into the garden space and listen to the birds.

The Cabin is also available for private hire - small group bookings, or as a creative space to run your own workshop from. Find out more here.

Unfortunately, the cabin is not wheel chair accessible; but I will endeavour to make adjustments for anyone who has visible or invisible disabilities.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A WORKSHOP

SPACE, TIME & COMMUNITY
All workshops are designed to let you switch off and find a creative groove among like-minded people. The kettle is always at the ready with a range of teas and coffees, and biscuits for dunking. It is a supportive and safe space where everyone is welcome to explore their creative interests.

EASY ACCESS
There is plenty of on-street parking and train/bus stations within 15 minutes walking distance. There is a loo and tons of spill out space in the garden when the weather allows it. Unfortunately the cabin itself is not wheel chair accessible (due to the size of the cabin) but access through the gate and down the garden is.

HANDS-ON & PRACTICAL
I like to get as much practical stuff done as possible, really maximising the practical elements of each workshop. You can be confident that you will leave with immediate results, as well as knowledge, ideas and maybe even a new creative buddy to share ideas with.

DIFFERENTIATED & SUPPORTIVE
I know that not everyone works in the same way, and sometimes it's best to go off-plan when unexpected things happen - so all workshops are designed to support everyone's needs and interests as individuals. Just give me a heads up if you require any adjustments.
